NEW safe SpaceCab™ which is 9 x stronger than Dash 7

The cab of the Dash 8 models has been completely redesigned to provide far greater strength, safety and comfort for the operator. Previously, the structure of the cab was made with pressed steel panels. The design of the new tubular frame of the Dash 8 SpaceCab™ affords greatly improved strength and rigidity - and therefore greater safety for the operator. Indeed, the new cab is nine times stronger than that of the Dash 7. Results of a crash test down a 30° slope, clearly demonstrated that, although the cab was distorted, the "deflection limiting volume" area for the operator remained intact.

This proved conclusively that the tubular frame design of the cab provides high impact resistance and absorbency to keep the operator safe in the event of such an incident.

The design of the frame eliminates the need for pillars which, whilst strengthening the cab, also obscure the operator’s vision. As a result, the SpaceCab™ has an airy, spacious feel. It is comfortable and well equipped. It is as quiet as a family saloon car, and the automatic air conditioning and air flow creates a perfect, productive working environment in any climate.
